Into TarNEET!

Okay, so last week was really interesting but it was a truly amazing week. First off we got tons of announcements from the mission president saying that this week Thursday Elder Pearson from the Seventy is coming down and doing a mission tour! So I'm really excited to see and talk with him. PLUS next month Elder Bednar is coming to our mission as well, and he's going to do a question and answer meeting with all the missionaries!!! So our Zone Leaders prompted us to fast and pray for a specific question to ask him because that meeting is going to be really intense and we can't waste Elder Bednar's time with stupid questions. So those two things I'm super excited for.

Tracting in TarNEET!
But anyways last week we spent mostly tracting because we're struggling to find people to teach because this area has been shut down and there was nothing in the area book. The last investigators we tried to contact and they were either not interested or moved which was a bit disappointing. But then we got a referral from our zone leaders for a man named Brother S. We met him and sat down with him and his story is amazing. He was a member of another  middle eastern religion and he escaped that country with his family to come to Australia to become a Christian!! Because if any of you are familiar with religious customs, if you change to another religion, especially if you're living in the Middle East, you are branded a traitor and might suffer severe consequences.....so he told us his story and how he wants to follow Jesus Christ, and of course we invited him to be baptized and he said yes!!! We are going to extend a date with him hopefully within the next 2 days. All three of us got on our knees to pray for a specific date, January 31st. and we got confirmations that that was the date, so all is going well for us so far. Really what this taught me was that no matter where you are called to serve there are people being prepared by the Lord to receive his gospel, whether it be a young girl in a part member family, or a man who escaped the traditions of his family to follow Christ. We are all his children. And he desires that ALL of us learn and share this Gospel that we've been given. This last week has been challenging to find people, but finding Shahin has built my faith so much! The Holy Ghost continues to confirm in my mind to just keep working, keep finding and you will succeed, with obedience we will have the power, and faith will be the key, to strengthen our calling which is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel, through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end.  2 Nephi 31:12
Love, Elder Kaanapu
