Through Mighty Prayer...

Sister Patricia Bear
Wow so this week was really interesting, like most of the week I went on exchanges with other missionaries and I've got a couple more this week! But I'm actually really excited because exchanges mean I get to experience missionary work with other missionaries in different areas so I'm happy :)

Here is a picture of Sister Patricia Bear. Her son Damien and wife Liz were in our Ward in Provo and its soo amazing to meet her here in Melbourne. The world is a small place after all.

Some awesome things happened! Like when I was with this other elder, Elder Stebner, we went to teach this guy named Colin about the importance of prayer and we gave so many examples like all the prophets, the sons of Mosiah etc. who had success because they gave themselves to much "prayer and fasting" but the biggest example that hit him was when we talked about Christ, more specifically when Christ was in the garden and he too offered a prayer to his heavenly father. At that moment I testified of how important prayer really is, and that it has made such a huge difference in my life.

Those of you who know me - know that it was only through prayer that I was able to overcome my personal weaknesses, repent, endure and come unto Christ. Without prayer I wouldn't be the man I am today, and I certainly wouldn't be on a mission. Once we finished the lesson Colin himself promised us that he would never forget, or at least try not to forget to pray as much as he can. Man that was a great lesson :) I think the longer I'm here the more I understand why I'm here. I mean I know why I'm here, it's to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel etc. But why I'm specifically here in my area I haven't quite figured it out.

HOWEVER that doesn't mean I will stop my faith and hope in Jesus Christ. I know I'm here for a reason, I'll just learn of that reason later on :) But one thing I wanna touch on before I have to go,
(because an hour is not long enough) is that I have learned that the people we meet, and the places we've been to and the things we participate in. They're all choices we've been given to make. and it's our job to rely on Heavenly Father through day and night with a constant prayer in our hearts to discern what the best choice would be and then make that choice.

I learned an important lesson: that acting on even a twig of faith will allow God to grow it. BUT another thought came up which everyone on earth can learn from. How can god grow our faith, if we don't act? That's definitely something that I need to work on. And I invite all of you to do the same :) because I know we'll see blessings from it. more blessing then we even have room to receive it!! :) Hebrews 11:1 (look at footnote b) Love, Elder Kaanapu
